You Can’t Get Something for Nothing

We all get caught up in the “shiny new object” syndrome from time to time. We just have to have a new car, new pair of shoes or download the latest guru’s product that’s sure to make us rich overnight.

The truth is that most of us won’t get that winning lottery ticket (I don’t gamble) or program that would miraculously rocket us to the top of the heap. For most Internet marketers, hard work and lots of time is what’s going to get us there – and it won’t be as fast as we’d like.

Get Something for Nothing

I believe that Internet marketing is the best way for me to build a business. I’m proud of and in doing so, help others with their own businesses.  I like the independence that Internet marketing provides.

There are so many different schemes (and scams) for making money online that it’s difficult to know which are legitimate, and which will lead you down a path that will take your money and then leave you high and dry.

I’ve tried many of them, including Multi-Level-Marketing (MLM), and I know that there’s no particular online business that’s best for everyone – but for me, the opportunities that Internet marketing provides is the best personal decision.

Unlike MLM, the Internet marketing niche allows me to leave out the “middleman” while developing a network of colleagues and clients whom I respect and enjoy working with.  My affiliate marketing program lets me work under the umbrella of larger Internet marketing sites and make money on their coat tails while building my own reputation.

With MLM, you network by letting others in on the business you’re attempting to build, and you all must depend on a “down line”Get Something for Nothing to succeed. Internet marketing allows me to be independent, but still interact with others and help them build businesses that can help all of us as we grow.

List building is also a passion of mine. Not only do I get to meet and help so many, but they help me. The information I’ve received from my list of clients and other marketers has been amazing, and I have a list building business model that you can use for helping to build your own list.

With my online business, I can still interact with people and help them with their own businesses. That’s important to me because there are so many black hat marketers out there that sit like spiders, ready to prey on newbies and unsuspecting, trusting people. If I can help others stay away from them, I feel that I’ve done a good deed.

Working from home has allowed me the opportunity to be with my family more while making a living and being my own boss.  But, it does take discipline and hard work to build an Internet marketing business – and then you still need to work at finding new and better ways to become more successful.

Get Something for Nothing

No matter how you choose to make money online – Internet marketing, MLM, eBay, freelance design and writing or blogging – you can succeed.  Just choose something you enjoy and have a passion for.  Find a niche that’s particularly appealing to you and then go for it.

Just don’t expect to become rich overnight. Do the hard work and mind challenges that success requires, and your hard work will pay off beyond your dreams.

Here’s a link to Tiffany Dow’s Blog where she talks about “Get Tired of Your Own Excuses.”  Snippet:  “You whine about not being successful or knowing what to do. But when I find out what you’ve been doing _____.

    Hey Carol,

I strongly believe that if you’re building your own list and can really stand behind what you promote, it doesn’t really matter the business model assuming you’re being ethical.

Technically I promote an MLM but I don’t see it as any different than promoting any other affiliate program for a comparable product.

Building your list is definitely the most important thing (and backing up your list) so no matter what happens to anything you promote, you can still be in business.

    Thanks for the great post!

      Hello Gabe!

Yes, there are many great business models!

Everyone has their preferences, and my opinion formed on MLM is definitely due to bad experiences – but am not saying it’s not a legit business model; just that I can’t stand it.

Yes, list building will be the foundation of every business model and plan I use.

I don’t share your view on MLM, but that’s what makes the world a beautiful place – different types of people with unique thoughts and opinions! :)

Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. :)

      Wish you a wonderful weekend.

    Hello Carol,
I’ve been cold turkey on “Shiny New Object Syndrome” for a couple of months now, and I think I’ve made more progress lately than the entire previous year as a result. I’m working on list building like a fiend, and I’m totally committed to carrying through with every project I start this year.

Thanks for the link to Tiffany’s post, it was very inspirational. You have a knack for delivering the right motivation for keeping me on the right track exactly when I need it the most.

I appreciate everything you do!. .

    Carol,
I have to agree with Steven’s comment. You always seem to post about the very thing I am either having trouble with or am working on. Today it’s listbuilding. Would you share the list building business model you mentioned or do you have a product for that business model?

I had already read Tiffany’s blog post. Ouch!! but you and she are a lot alike in different ways. You tell it like it needs to be told but with different attitudes. I always get something good anytime I read a post by either of you.

    Many Blessings,
    Clyde

      Hi Clyde!

I’m so thankful to the Lord that He gives discernment and helps me to stay in touch with my readers/subscribers. I emailed a sheet to you that you may find interesting. Yes, Tiffany is a wonderful person, we are alike in many ways and very different in others, yet equal in value. So glad you’ve joined Tiffany’s list, because she is a marketer with integrity for sure. :)

      Have a great weekend.

    Hi Carol,
Thanks for the heads up on Logo Creator. I want to add the other modules later. Have to do a little at a time. I love to play with these things and you seem to find the best “gadgets”. I just bought Logo Creator and I’m going to play. Thanks again.

      Hello Ruth,

You’re welcome! I love that software, it has saved me a lot of Fiverr money! Lol I still use Fiverr a lot but this is so drop-dead simple…Drag and Drop. :)

I don’t have the extra packs either, the basic is just fine for me. It’s a great piece of software.

      Have a great day.

    Hi Carol
I stay away from MLM it’s just not my thing lol I prefer List building and Affiliate Marketing via my blog, I am building some great relationships with my readers and my list so I prefer to go in that direction.
We are all different and a lot of people have had success with MLM and that’s fine…
I was guilty at the beginning of falling into the “shiny object” trap, I had so many products just collecting dust on my hard drive at one stage, I have had a clean out now and feel much better for it :)
Thanks for sharing, hope you have a great day.

    • http://ccamato.net Carol Amato

      Hello Pauline!

My husband and I tried MLM for a long time, it’s just not our cup of tea. I don’t care for that business model. It is legitimate, but not for me…Nope!

Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. :)
      Have a blessed day.
