It’s a very good question and an important question, and it’s one that we’re going to be taking a very close look at today. I would like to start off by introducing you to the following phrase: The money is in the list.
The phrase kind of originated in the inner circles of entrepreneurs who were making a lot of money online. It quickly caught fire and kept spreading, and the reason is because there’s so much truth to it.
If you’ve ever done business online before, you know the power of having a list.
It takes a mediocre website, and it can turn that website into a money generating machine. It can take a business that’s doing fairly well and turn it into a business that’s doing extremely well.
The fact is most website owners don’t understand this concept of the money being in the list. They’ve never been exposed to the things we are talking about, therefore, they never build a list. You, of course, are going to be different. You are not only going to be building a list, but you’re also going to know what to do with that list to make money from it as you build it.
The bottom line, as I alluded to earlier, is that a list is one of the most powerful money getting tools that you have at your disposal when it comes to making money online.
If you don’t have a list, you are undoubtedly leaving a lot of money on the table.
So let’s get to the root of why having a list is going to make you more money. The first and foremost benefit is that it’s going to enable you to build a strong relationship with your website visitors.
Instead of leaking traffic like most websites do, you’re going to be collecting that traffic into a database. Then you’re going to be able to communicate with those people over and over in the form of e-mail.
If you communicate the right way, you’re going to be able to build a very strong relationship with your subscribers.
This relationship is so important because it’s going to give you more first-time buyers, more repeat buyers in your business, and ultimately your profits are going to go way up . . . versus not having a list.
Think of it this way, would you be more likely to give money to a friend or to a stranger? If someone just came up to you on the street and the first thing they did was ask you for a dollar, and they didn’t look like they were somebody in need, would you be likely to give them that dollar? You’d be kind of hesitant, and you might even just say no.
Now let’s say that you’re out and about and you meet someone, and you strike up a friendly conversation, and you part ways. Let’s say you’re out again and you run into that person again, and you talk a little bit more. Maybe you have something in common, and you set up a time to hang out. Then maybe you invite them over for dinner, and you’ve built a relationship.
Now say that new friend of yours says, “Hey, can I just have a dollar, I just want to get this candy bar out of the vending machine because I’m hungry, and I haven’t had any lunch.” Would you give him that dollar? People spend money with whoever they know, like and trust.
Most websites out there are like that stranger that asks for money first without taking any time to build a relationship. Your website is going to be different. Instead – people are going to be opting in to your list and when they do, you’re going to be giving them some information, some value in return by e-mailing them great content.
Then later down the line when you ask for the sale, you recommend a product – maybe it’s an affiliate product, maybe it’s your own product, they’re going to be 100 times more likely to buy because the relationship is there. They know who you are, and they know what you’re all about – it makes all the difference.
Now you might be thinking, that sounds great and all, but building a relationship with my list . . . that sure sounds like a tricky thing, that sounds like a lot of work. Well, let me tell you it’s not! It’s actually one of the easier things that you’re going to need to do in this business.

Why start list building? Well, a sub benefit of having a list, other than building a strong relationship with your visitors, is that you control the traffic now.
Once you have a list of subscribers who are really interested in what you have to say, well you can recommend a number of different things and you’ll see that a great majority of your takes the action that you want them to take. So you can send your list to affiliate offers, you can send your list to your own offers – you can send them anywhere you want.
When you send an e-mail out or a promotion that asks the person to take a given action, much of your list is going to do it once you’ve built that relationship. So having control over your traffic like this gives you a lot of leverage in your business and is just going to give you a major boost in your online profits.
