Have You Been Using Quantcast to Understand Markets?
It’s important for Internet marketers to understand their audience. By understanding their audience, they can create targeted marketing materials. Thus, they can increase their following and their sales.
There are lots of different ways to analyze a market. You can conduct market research, or hire someone to do a competitor analysis. While both of these are great ways to discover your audience, they cost money. If you want to use a free (and simple) way to analyze your market, use Quantcast.
What is Quantcast?
Quantcast monitors statistics for website owners. People can use Quantcast to review statistics on:
- The number of men who view their site
- The number of women who view their site
- The age of site visitors
- The ethnicity of site visitors
- The number of kids visitors have
- The amount of money site visitors make
- How much education site visitors have
- Traffic frequency
- Business activity
- Geographic location of site visitors
- Page views
- Data source
There are two ways to use this data. First you can use the data to analyze your competitors’ websites in order to get a better understanding of your target market. Second, you can get Quantified with Quantcast so you can see your own site statistics.
I’m going to show you how to do both.

Analyze Competitors’ Websites
The first thing you can do is use Quantcast to analyze your competitors’ sites. This analysis will help you discover who your target market is.
It’s a good idea to do this when you first start out with your niche site. That way, you can design your marketing materials around your target market.
For example, let’s say that you’re going to create a niche site for the Apple iPad 2. You could go to Google and search for “iPad 2.”
Apple’s site is at the top of the search results. Since they created the iPad 2, I know that a lot of their customers will visit their website. Thus, I can check Apple’s statistics with Quantcast in order to get a better idea of the types of customers they serve.
When I go to Quantcast, I just need to put their website’s URL into the search box and click “Search.”
When I do that, a list of different statistics will come up. I can click on the “Demographics” button in order to get detailed results.
After I view the demographics, I know that the customer base is split almost evenly between men and women. I also know that the majority of the customer base:
- Is between the ages of 18-34
- Has kids
- Makes at least $60,000 per year
I can use this information to create powerful marketing materials that will speak directly to these people.
View Your Own Site Information
You can also use Quantcast to view your own website’s information. First though, you need to get Quantified.
In order to get Quantified, you have to sign up for an account with Quantcast. Then, you’ll need to put a snippet of code on your website.
If you want to get Quantified, go to https://www.quantcast.com/user/signup. Once there, create an account.

Then, Quantcast will send a confirmation email to your account. Follow the steps in the email and then get Quantified.
Once your site is Quantified you’ll be able to go to Quantcast, type in the site address, and view statistics. At that point, you’ll need to check the statistics to make sure you’re reaching the right audience.
For instance, if your competitors are reaching an equal amount of men and women, but you’re only reaching women, you’ll need to change your marketing methods in order to reach more men. Basically, you’ll use the information from Quantcast in order to make chances so you can reach the right people.
Now that you know how the process works, take the time to do some competitor research and get Quantified with Quantcast. This free tool will help you get your site on track so you can maximize your outreach with regards to helping folks and make more sales also.
Let me know what you think of Quantcast. Do you plan on using this tool to help you find your target audience? Also, if you’ve already used Quantcast, tell me about your experiences with it.
Take Care,
Carol

Carol,
There is nothing I can say right now to ease your pain. I know this because I lost my brother, too. He is with me everyday in my heart and memories. He will never go away because I loved him. Over time I finally began to smile instead of cry when a fun memory would dart across my mind of times we had together as children and adults. I hope those times come quickly for you.
You are in my thoughts

January 15, 2012 at 12:21 am
Dear Carol
I’m sorry to hear of your sad loss. Death is an enemy which we weren’t meant to deal with. Your brother is sleeping now and not conscious of anything. (Eccl. 9:5, 10) So you can feel relieved at that. Now we, the living, have to make sure that we are found worthy of being judged righteous when the end comes. (John 6:40).
Try to stay close to those who are helping you now. You will not get over this quickly. Time does help but you will never forget your brother and there will always be a part of you that grieves. And pray to our father Jehovah God (Ps 81.18) for help. He hears our prayers and will help you.
Take care
Roslyn

Hello Carol, I’m new to the program of affiliate marketing and wanted to know how to set up a blog and where to post it.. Also can i find somebody to write the content for me since i am lousy in that department.
Thanks
Ron
January 15, 2012 at 2:09 pm
Hi Ron,
You can learn from free sources for sure. There is a lot of free POWERFUL info on my blog.
Use the Search feature on the right side of my blog, to type in any term that you are wondering about. For example, type in “free WordPres blog” and hit Enter on your keyboard. You will see all the Posts on my blog about that topic…
Also, YouTube and Google – they are excellent for tutorials.
Just do a search for ” __ tutorial” in YouTube, and you will see a bunch of videos that teach about it. Whatever you are interested in learning about, you can search for a tutorial about it.
Did you watch my video? I share my business model and tell what components are needed and why…. that is a great place to start actually.
Hope to help.

Thanks, Tom, I really appreciate your thoughtful words of encouragement as that is a comfort.
What law are you referring to specifically? SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act)?
Take Care,
Carol
January 18, 2012 at 9:46 am
yes it is sopa, have not put in enuff work so far in my plan, soon to change, signed up for a clickbankaccount about a month or so to facebook,, no luck in the money so far probably did something wrong,, Signed up for Cbsurge will not load on my computer having problems with it so i am going to a computer guy to help me along, Have had a bout with all the mentoring systems out there, going through the eric’s tips signed up for his classes, about three months ago… I guess the turtle will win the race in the end that’s me…slow on the start long on the finnish..Have hosting domain web page just stuck on my blog page can’t seem to post.. I am good at face to face with my system for saving money and putting people ahead of the pact, but in print just stuck in netural…My brother is having a great impact on my thoughts..I own another business, always successful in.. Stock market last weeeee slid down hill… Not asking for answers just venting today have yourself a blessed day… happiness to you and your family…
January 18, 2012 at 11:12 am
Hello Tom,
You got that right….slow but steady, and those who FINISH the race win…. I am a slow learner myself, having to re-read things and have difficulty focusing on new things sometimes. However, I keep plugging away and write out all my goals and have a daily planner that keeps me on track.
It really helps to do a “brain dump” where you write down all the things and ideas that are filling your mind, then you can organize your priorities and set up a schedule to actually take action to making the ideas a reality.
Hope to help.

My sincerest sympathies Carol,
Although your family has the healthy understanding of your brother’s wonderous destiny, your hearts still yearn for the earthly companionship of your loved ones…it just takes time to allow the reality of the change.
Due to various circumstances, I too have lost 5 family members & one close friend in the last 8 months, most recent were in November 17 & December 9…Now, if my son-in-law can get home from Afganistan safely on January 27th, I will start breathing again.
I am sooo thankful for all the information you have provided on your website! I am sure that all your faithful followers will understand if your posts aren’t as diligent! Personally, I have a back-log of information that you’ve provided that I’m trying to learn, digest and/or implement!!!
My prayers are with you and your family. Thank You for being such a blessing in my life as I’m learning how to be an Affiliate Marketer.

You’re welcome for the information – I do enjoy what I’m doing, but need to ease back into it for sure.
Thanks for stopping by. – Carol
