While I’ve talked quite a bit about affiliate marketing on this blog, I have yet to discuss the types of websites you can create to market affiliate products. Today, I’m going to talk about product review websites. I’ll cover the other types of sites in future blog posts.
Use Product Reviews to Market Affiliate Products
What are Product Review Sites?
Product review sites are just as the name suggests. They feature product reviews. Along with the reviews, the site owner provides affiliate links to products. Thus, people can go to the website, read a review and then click on a link to buy a product. Once they click on the link, they’ll be redirected to the merchant’s website. At that point, they can make the purchase. Google Sniper is an excellent training program where you can learn how to profit from affiliate review sites.
Benefits of Product Review Websites
There are several benefits to creating product review websites. First, product review sites provide potential customers with all of the information they need to make an informed decision. They can read the reviews and find out which product is best for them. That means they don’t have to close out of your site in order to buy a product. They can do all of their research and make a purchase, all in one place. Of course, they’ll be redirected to the merchant’s site if they want to make a purchase, but still, you’ll provide them with the roadmap they need to purchase a product.
Additionally, product review sites make it easy to bring in organic traffic. That’s because it’s simple to include lots of keywords in the reviews, and then rank for those keywords. For example, let’s say you have an affiliate site that has ten different reviews. Each review is for a different product, so each review has its own set of keywords. You could potentially rank for each of those keywords, which means you could bring in lots of organic traffic. Now that you know the benefits, I want to explain how to conduct your research.
How to Conduct Research
You need to create reviews that are unbiased and informative. That means you need to find out what people are saying about the product.
There are several ways you can get this information. Start by going to Amazon.com. Once there, look up your product and then read the customer reviews. This will give you a good idea of what people have to say about the product.
Then, use other sites, such as Shopping.com and Google Shopping to access more customer reviews.
As you do this, be sure to look at both positive and negative reviews. That way, you can provide your readers with all of the information they need.
Constructing Your Review
Once you have researched the product, you’ll be ready to construct your review. At this point, you’ll have to decide if you want to write the review yourself or if you want to hire someone to do it for you. If you choose to hire someone, you can find a freelancer on Elance or oDesk. Once you find someone, give him your research so he can create an honest and unbiased review.
If you choose to create the review on your own, you need to make sure to include all relevant information. You can use a simple format for this. The format should include:
- Introductory paragraph
- Product overview
- The bottom line, or conclusion
- Link to the product
Building Your Site
Finally, you’ll need to build your site. While you have several options for this, I recommend hiring a freelancer or using a WordPress.org template and doing it yourself. WordPress has some good free themes, but I got Thesis because of it being optimized for SEO.
You’ll also need to get a domain name and a hosting plan. I recommend using Namecheap for your domain name and Bluehost for your hosting plan. Both are affordable options, so you won’t have to break the bank to get what you need.
Once you get your hosting and domain name taken care of, you can put your review site up and start driving traffic to it.
Before you put your site up, though, I want to go over some tips.
Tips for Creating Product Review Sites
- Honesty is the best policy. Don’t exaggerate the benefits of a product. Instead, provide real information so your visitors can make an informed decision. This will help you build trust with your customers.
- Put an affiliate discloser on your website. This extra layer of transparency will also help you build trust with potential customers.
- Don’t claim that you have used the product unless you actually have. If you haven’t used the product, make it clear that your reviews are based on information you found online.
