I was appalled recently when I came across a plugin (WP Plugins Coder) that encourages you to fake the number of Google visits, ‘likes’ on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest just to get more followers…
I just can’t fathom anyone thinking this is an ethical way to present yourself online!
Let me tell you how the WP Plugins Coder works and you can decide for yourself if it should be legal – or not. I’ve been told that it’s ‘legal’ because you’re only displaying your image next to a share button. But, there’s much more to it than how it appears.
This particular plugin lets you determine the share count for up to nine various social sharing sites, making your sites look extremely popular and well-visited.
So, people who see how your sites are ranked immediately perceive you as an expert who has loads of followers. Does that sound deceptive to you? It does to me!
Using this sleazy plugin you can even fake the counts to appear in various time periods so your sites appear to be constantly busy. Some promoters of this site actually call the WP Plugin Coder an “enhancement” to your sites.
It preys on the “herd mentality” of people looking for information and encourages them (falsely) to click on the share buttons. This plugin proudly calls itself a way to increase ‘fake social share counts.’ That just about says it all.Fake is fake – and this WP Plugin Coder is a disgrace to our industry. It gives a bad name to all Internet marketers.
My whole purpose for sharing this with you is to encourage you to think about the type of sites and “plans” that you participate in. While they may be ‘legal’ . . . some are certainly not ethical.
Ethics and integrity to me is being totally honest in both your personal and business lives. I much prefer to build a real client base with help such as ‘JustRetweet,’ that helps you get followers based on what you offer and don’t use ‘fake’ methods.
JustRetweet is designed as a sharing site and is often used by social media to support small businesses and share information with others. The way it works is by using the power of Twitter to get other members of JustRetweet to retweet the content of your niche. Not only will it serve to drive others to your site – you will also gather followers as a result.
It’s easy to get started using JustRetweet and it’s free! They abide by the rules of Twitter so they don’t send “autotweets” – nor do they force “autofollows.” This ensures that those who end up visiting your site(s) won’t get forced into anything they don’t want or need to follow. These wouldn’t be your buying customers anyway.
The JustRetweet site is based on the “earned credits” that you receive from liking the retweets of other members on the site. When you have enough credits you can enter your own retweets so that others can see and retweet the content. You automatically receive 100 credits when you sign up using Twitter, so you’re on your way to using the app. JustRetweet has full instructions on their site.
“Please do NOT request Retweets of sales pages, direct affiliate links, get rich schemes or any other type of spam. These tweets will be deleted without warning. Repeated infractions will result in account suspension.”
Since I base my business and personal life on honesty and integrity at all times, I will continue to use JustRetweet and shun others like WP Plugin Coder – and I hope you do too.
