Promote Your Affiliate Links

Essential Guidelines to Promote Your Affiliate Links

It’s always crucial in Internet marketing to know the best places in which to promote your affiliate links in order to maximize your profit potential.

If you’re a web owner, then you have a big advantage over someone who hasn’t got their own website, as you’ll be able to sprinkle your affiliate products and links all over the various relevant pages of your website and direct traffic to those pages.

Article marketing is a great way to get exposure for your affiliate products and especially with article directories like Ezine and Go.  These directories have a high Alexa ranking and are well thought of by Google and the other main search engines.

That said, you cannot directly promote your affiliate links in your article – you have to create a landing page on your website and send the article link there, as affiliate links are forbidden with the main directories.

For both the affiliate without a website and the website owner, you can build what is known as a Squidoo lens.  It is your own private space on the World Wide Web which allows you to create a lens on a wide and varied selection of topics and place your affiliate links within the body of your content.

Twitter is another way in which you can utilize your affiliate products and promote your affiliate links.  If you don’t want people to see your affiliate links in your messages, then you can use a free URL shortening service like or Tiny URL.

Building a Facebook page (used to be called fan pages) also allows both the affiliate and web owner to offer affiliate products and promote your affiliate links without any problems.  You can also add pictures to your Facebook page and promote your affiliate links in the caption of the picture as long as it is relevant to the picture itself.

There are certainly more options as a web owner to promote your affiliate links.  Someone who simply wants to concentrate on being an affiliate and who is not interested in having a website may consider companies like ClickBank, Paydotcom and the emerging Plimus.  These companies have thousands of affiliate products for you to choose from in their marketplaces and mainly involve digital products/programs available to the customer immediately by way of secure download.

If you own a website, then not only can you enjoy the digital download affiliate market, but you can also promote physical products from established and well known companies like Amazon, Commission Junction, TradeDoubler and Affiliate Window.  These companies have excellent marketing materials such as links, banners and promotional tools available and also give good advice on the best places to promote their products and maximize your affiliate sales.

If you address the affiliate products you promote correctly and find the best routes to market your chosen products, then the opportunity for many sales is very good.  You can always share a valuable product with your subscribers on an email list by using a professional autoresponder such as AWeber.  AWeber offers a 30-day trial for only $1.

Before taking the liberty to promote your affiliate links in a forum that you are a member of, it is very wise to check their rules and terms before doing so. Some forums allow affiliate links in posts, MANY do not. Other forum communities allow affiliate links in the signature of your posts, and some do not. Be careful to find this out before posting as this could possibly get you banned without possibility of reinstatement, so do the research needed to be able to promote your affiliate links safely.

I didn’t know that you cannot directly promote your affiliate links in your article. This article helped me out a lot! Thanks Carol!

    • Carol Amato

Glad to help Anna – you won’t get your articles approved if you have direct links in the articles.

      I enjoy helping others.

      Have a good evening.

      Hello Cheryl,

Thanks for your kind words – they are much appreciated. :)

I offer free help to anybody who asks – by way of posting powerful free information on my blog, answering specific questions in forums I am a member of, and answering specific questions sent by way of email as time allows. I do my very best to respond within a 24-hour window. I spend hours and hours helping folks each and every week.

For detailed and comprehensive one-one-one personal coaching, which is held in a Personal Webinar where I share my screen and demonstrate different things, and also allow the student to share their screen so I can literally walk them through a certain task they are having trouble with – folks would go to my Personal Coaching tab and select the package they want and make payment accordingly.

Wow, that’s a fantastic opportunity to go to a live event, Cheryl – let me know what you liked best. :)
      Have a good evening.

    Hi Carol,

Love the advice you’re giving and the manner in which you do so. You give the impression of a trustworthy source of information which is truly difficult to find on the web. I’m a 44 year old fulltime student looking to get into the world of affiliate marketing as a hobby and hopefully help pay for this education I’m trying to acquire. I’ve found 3 related products that I wish to promote using your recommended media sources. I did pick up some great advice from your article. I do have a website that is provided by one of the venders which promotes their product only. Developing my own website, so that I can promote all three products will be the route I’m thinking of going. Besides the obvious forms of social media marketing; such as Face book and Twitter, I’m especially interested in the article marketing and emailing to friends and past colleagues. I’m sure there is ALOT that I can learn from you regarding these topics. I’m interested in the coaching services you offer and will be contacting you after I’ve gone through all the details in your website and familiarized myself with the industry standards a little more, If you’re ok with coaching a complete newbie and feel that you can get me moving in the right direction faster; fell free to contact me at your convenience, otherwise you will hear from me soon. Great Post!

      Hello Bryan,

So glad you enjoyed the blog post and are interested in affiliate marketing. I am an Internet Marketer who enjoys affiliate marketing, as that is one facet of the Internet marketing.

You can learn from free sources for sure. There is a lot of free POWERFUL info on my blog.

Use the Search feature on the right side of my blog, to type in any term that you are wondering about. For example, type in “squeeze page” and hit Enter on your keyboard. You will see all the Posts on my blog about squeeze pages…

Also, YouTube and Google – they are excellent for tutorials.

Just do a search for ” __ tutorial” in YouTube, and you will see a bunch of videos that teach about it. Whatever you are interested in learning about, you can search for a tutorial about it.

Did you watch my video training? Golden Nuggets – Internet Marketing Basics <– where I share my business model and what components are needed to get started making money online. That is a prerequisite before coaching. Hope to help and have a great rest of the weekend. – Carol
