How To Work At Home And Not Ruin Your Health

I don’t think I realized what a sedentary lifestyle was until I started working from home. Sitting at your desk all day long, whether you work at a job location or at home, could be detrimental to your health.

Watch this short video – it could have a drastic impact on your work day, energy level and overall health.

Have you considered buying a stand-up desk? They’re cheaper than I thought for a laptop. Splitting your work time between standing and sitting is the best way to work, and if you have a counter that would suffice then you wouldn’t have to actually go out and buy a stand up desk.

Alternating between positions is the most important thing, and making sure to keep your form ergonomic.

Does this describe your work space?Alternate sitting and standing

  • Ergonomic chair and desk

  • Plenty of light
  • Water to drink
  • Fresh air, or well-ventilated space
  • Private, distraction-free area

Make sure to keep your day balanced by taking breaks and giving yourself a chance to exercise or rest and clear you mind. If you have a good tip to share, please list it below – would love to hear your thoughts.

How very true sitting too much, too many distractions – not easy working from home. Have to find a balance.

Yes, Bert – it is a challenge but the rewards are great if we are disciplined and goal-oriented.

Hi Carol I totally agree! When you have kids, working and trying to balance an online marketing job sometimes you forget your own health. Which reminds me I think I will take a break now!

Hi Adrian! So glad it helped – it’s a challenge but the best possible place to work, in my opinion. :) You’re welcome!

    Hi Carol,

What a great video about how to take care of your health when sitting at a computer.
There was a gal on the Warrior Forum that said she almost lost her life because she got a blood clot in her leg from sitting hours on end at her computer.
She was warning everyone to get up and walk around for a little bit during the day.

    Love this post.
Thanks for the reminder, too. :)
