Get Free Traffic

Get Free traffic by search engine optimization … which is simply the term that has been given to the process of going through the steps you need to take to get your site/page ranked at the top of Google, Yahoo and Bing.

(You can also get free traffic from Facebook, Twitter, article writing, forums, etc.) Search engine optimization will NOT happen by itself.

Search engine optimization basics to get free traffic:

How Do Search Engines Work?
How does Google “see” a website?
How does a website get ranked?

Google ranks web PAGES, not websites.

You should target a different keyword on each web page/blog post to increase traffic.  You have to let Google know which keyword you want a particular page on your website to rank for – (SEO) – Search Engine Optimization.  Provide great content, good articles/posts to get free traffic generated by people searching for certain keywords.

Keywords are get free trafficlike magnets, and they pull traffic to your site, and they do so through the search engines.

You need to build a content-based website or blog.  This content can be articles or posts centered around a keyword that you have chosen.  Articles are great search engine food to get traffic to your site.

If you have a WordPress blog, you can install Stats plugin in order to see what keywords are searched for to get to your site and then optimize that particular post/article to increase the flow and get free traffic.

When doing search engine optimization (SEO), the first and most important question to ask yourself: “Which keywords do I want to rank for?”which keywords do I want to rank for Google WANTS to rank you for your targeted keywords.  How does Google use keywords when it is analyzing a website?

  • On-page analysis
  • Off-page analysis

Keywords are the basis of both types.

On-Page Analysis – for your site as a whole, Google looks at these key things:

  • Site map (look at my footer)
  • Internal linking structure
  • Admin pages (privacy policy, terms of use, etc.)

For each page of your site, Google looks at:

  • URL structure
  • Meta tags
  • Article title
  • Article content
  • Keywords
  • Quality

Optimize each PAGE of site for these factors.

Off-Page Analysis

  • Inbound links (or “backlinks”)
  • Link text (contains the keyword you want to rank for)
  • Quality of the linking site (PageRank)
  • Linking site category

Not all inbound links are created equal.  There is an optimal type of inbound link and a suboptimal type.  We should always optimize the kind of links that come to our site.

With search engine optimization (SEO), we don’t have to wait around for other people to link to us – we can be proactive about it, and we can go out and secure the links we want and get free traffic.

Google wants to see links between similar topic sites.  For example if you have a site about learning to play the guitar, and you get an inbound link from a site about cooking that is a PageRank 5 website, that’s okay.  You will still get some points for that and your rankings are going to go up, and you’ll get free traffic.

use relevant keywordsLet’s say that you get another link from a PageRank 5 site, but this site is also about learning to play the guitar.  That link is going to count for even more and will boost you even higher in the search engines than the cooking link did.  The reason is – it is from a site that matches your site in the way of subject matter.

You can broaden this out a little more.  Even if you get a link from just a general music site, that is going to be better than a link from a cooking or recipe site, typically.  This is the norm in a typical situation but not in all cases — you also need to consider PageRank.

A general rule to follow is that you want to try to get links from sites that are on topic to yours, as closely matched as possible.  However, if there is a great linking opportunity from an off-topic site, you should jump on it in order to get free traffic.  You will still benefit in search engine optimization and will get free traffic.

I’d love to hear your thoughts below.

I have my own web site which is catalog and web sales. I also have an affiliate site, I paid to have my site set up, a quick 20 min. and I don’t seem to know what to do except check to see if I have clicks. My own site is sitting there waiting for someone. I watch videos and think I understand but then poof, I forget.
    Just venting. thanks

    • Carol Amato

      Hello, Barbara,

First you need to understand if you have admin privileges on your sites. On the affiliate freebie site, you do not. This type of site is mediocre at best, in my opinion.

As for the other site, do you host this site yourself? Can you put an opt-in form on there to start building your list? Check out the posts on my blog here to learn about the most important kind of site and priorities that go with it. First priority, build your list after you decide on a niche market.

      Hope to help.

As always, thank yoou so much for the good you’re doing to help us all.

    Hey Carol,
Does this SEO work with Squeeze pages as well ?

    • Carol Amato

      Hello Scott,

Yes, on any page on the World Wide Web, although a squeeze page is not going to have much content, so they are harder to rank.

      Hope to help.

Well Carol, i am begining to see some light upon reading twice this blog: about getting Free traffic by search engine optimization ….. ! Your answers to the questions to the students are very helpful. I am paying lots of attention to them. They are asking for me by sure. And I can see I am not the only one asking naive questions. Some students are already advanced, like Robert mentioning PMI. What is that? LOL! When they do not explain the siglas i am at lost. Also Uncle Tom… getting confused with this blog post. We are here to learn… and we have a darling teacher. We’re all very lucky!. Then it light of the season (and Christ is indeed the reason for the season) Have a Very Merry one blessed Christmas! To all! Aida and family!

    • Carol Amato

      Hello Aida!

Thanks for your kind words, you are a dear! :) PMI is a coaching company.

Definitely agree that Christ is the reason for the season for sure! We all start at different places, are on different places on the road and start with different skill sets to begin with. :) I love helping people make money online. I just share what I have learned and what I am doing.

Have a blessed rest of the week! :)

  • William

Carol, I agree with the others that you are truely a blessing fr people trying to get into the internet marketing world. It seems most places are doing just enough teaching to make you think you are getting something and their main concern is selling you the next product. You have a true concern for people and sharing your vast knowledge to help people make money on their own and it is very refreshing and appreciated by all. Thank you and keep up the great work for all us just beginning to crawl on the internet.

    • Carol Amato

William, I certainly appreciate your kind words, as I know you are very sincere…..makes me all of my hard work worthwhile! :)
Thanks for stopping by. – Carol

  • Gordon

    Hi Carol
This is certainly a major factor in getting generic traffic to your website. According to the seo experts I have spoken to the onpage factors contribute maybe 15% and offpage factors 85%, speaking specifically about backlinks.,
    Keyword density should be 2-5%.
Having said that you certainly have provided food for thought.

    • Carol Amato

      Hi Gordon,

Onpage SEO contributes a whole lot more than that, especially with the latest algorithm changes at Google. Check out my link as I cover the latest changes in the search engines criteria…
      Have a great weekend. :)

Yes, it is a layering process and takes time to absorb everything. Let me know how I can help.
      Have a wonderful day,

Carol. I have bought so many things through you, girl. Triple action firesale, CBsurge, I could go on and on. I just wish I had some one to share them with, (or sell them to)..I’m working on that…Lol. I model myself after you, because I too have been ripped off by the Gu-Ru’s out there and all I know, is keeping my integrity is utmost important to me. Thank you, for being you! You have taught me some very useful things and many were free! Keep it up, please! I know I’m only one of many, you have truly inspired. =)

    • Carol Amato

      Hi Deita!

Fantastic that you picked up the Triple Action sale…..that will be over tomorrow! Yeah, I know what you mean about being taken advantage of……live and learn! You will learn how to use what you bought in the training of the course~! :) Go figure! 😉 I’m so glad to encourage you and others along the way. That’s my goal!! Thanks for stopping by. – Carol
