When it comes to the process of buying and selling websites, you don’t have to spend tons of time or money to make it happen. Flippa is the number one marketplace for buying and selling websites – found at www.flippa.com.
Here you can post websites you have available and sell them quickly. You can also search the various websites out there that others are offering. It’s convenient to have such a huge database of sites being bought and sold.

Why Flippa?
Everyone is busy, time is money and being able to have this information at your fingertips in a convenient location is important. Being able to reach a large volume of potential buyers is also important. Flippa has over 200,000 registered users so there is plenty of exposure. As their great reputation continues to grow, that number of users will only increase. In 2011, over 26,000 websites were sold and that number continues to increase as well.
How Much Does It Cost?
There is a flat fee of $29 to sell your website on Flippa. Once it sells, there is also a 5% commission based on the selling price. That fee will be at least $10 but never exceed $2,000. You can also choose to pay more to have an upgraded listing that is featured so that it stands out from the others. All fees are paid by the seller, not the buyer.
Bidding On Websites
Potential buyers are able to bid on websites that they wish to purchase. The bids are anonymous to everyone except the seller. Most of
the listings have a minimum bid amount on them to give you an idea of where to start the bid at. There will also be a time frame given for each listing so you can see when the bidding ends. You can set up your account to be notified if you are outbid.
Easy Financial Transactions
When you use Flippa to buy and sell websites, the financial end of the transaction is a piece of cake. The funds are paid to Flippa so you don’t have to disclose your credit card or bank information to a party you don’t know who is selling the website. Flippa is well established and has been in business since 2005. They have top notch security in place so your financial transactions are secure.
For the seller, you get your money from Flippa very soon after the sale takes place. Once the buyer has paid, they will subtract any fees that are due to them. The balance will be deposited to you. When you set up your account, you will have an authorized account on file for them to deposit the funds to.
Simple Navigation
One of the reasons why Flippa is so effective is the simple navigation that it offers. When you enter the site, start by choosing a button to click, depending on if you wish to buy or sell websites. If you are buying, you can sort them by newly listed, those ending soon, or by price. You can also see new listings. If you are selling, just follow the prompts to get your listing active for others to see in no time at all. This is a wonderful resource that so many are using. As you explore it, you will find it to be a resource you want to use often as well.
Flippa Reveals What’s Hot
You can gain a lot of valuable information by looking closely at what has recently sold, for how much, and how much traffic and sales that website had. Much food for thought. Visit the site even if you’re not in a position to buy or sell, just to become aware of what others are doing in our industry and what is hot!

Going through Flippa gives you a great idea about what’s hot but also how they are monetizing their traffic and what criteria people are using to buy/sell domains. I’m on their mailing list – the price that some domains go for is phenomenal!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Carol,
Flippa is an interesting site. I like to check out the sold section.
I know there’s a big business in buying and flipping domains. It’s not for the faint of heart though. I guess this is where doing your due diligence comes in handy before you jump in.
Sorry to hear you guys are getting such chilly temperatures. Hope it doesn’t hurt the citrus groves.
Pretty weird weather here in Tennessee, too. One day the daffodils are blooming, and the next day they’re frozen.
Thanks, Carol. – Steve

Hello Steve!
Yes, I find it very interesting too… Have a few domains I need to sell, thanks for reminding me. :)
Yeah, the weather has been flip flopping a lot. I am content, though because it’s a blessing too, because this will make me appreciate spring that much more!
Have a great weekend.

Ophelie from Flippa here — thanks for mentioning us, Carol! The Just Sold page (flippa.com/just-sold) is my favourite for keeping track of what’s selling really well.
