Five Tips To Keep You On Track In Your Online Business

Five Tips To Keep You On Track In Your Online Business

#1.  Have the Right Attitude

Having the right attitude and mindset is a critical part of becoming an Internet marketing entrepreneur.  This isn’t a bunch of mumbo jumbo stuff like…”Think positive and everything in your life will be a bed of roses.”  No!  Hurdles will come that you’ll need to get over.

You’ll need persistence and motivation in large doses to keep you going when things are not growing as fast as you’d like them to.   Beliefs of self-doubt will start to kick in, doubts of your abilities and skill level, fear that you’ll fail and never be successful – you’ll start to think of every excuse in the world why you can’t do this.  It’s crucial to be prepared for this when it comes.  Have the right attitude.

#2.  Remember It Is a Layering Process

Each step builds on top of another.  No one step is insignificant if it’s part of a bigger one and part of your goal.  We don’t start out right away building the greatest, biggest and most successful project of all.

The initial step is to lay the first brick of your foundation down as best you can.  Then you move on to the next brick, and then the next.  Very soon you’ll have built a great project by taking steps in order as it is a layering process.

#3.  Be Productive By Taking In Less Information

We’ve all experienced information overload!  Our brains cannot be creative to produce new information while taking IN information at the same time.  If you already have everything you need to take your next step – take it!

Control your intake of information so that you don’t get overwhelmed and DON’T become paralyzed by all the information pouring in.  You will start producing more when you stop allowing too much information to sidetrack you. Delete emails that are not contributing to helping complete your current project.

#4.  Knight In Shining Amour Will Not Save You

No one will come save you from your woes.  There is no magic tool, service, product, program, WordPress plug-in or coaching program that will get you where you want to go.   The ONLY person that can do that is YOU.  This is accomplished by literally diving in head first and taking massive action towards your goal.  These other things can help make things convenient and help you work more efficiently, but no one will rescue you by doing it all for you.

In the end, all of your goals, all of the things you are striving for are dependent on you and accomplished by you.

Remember, mistakes are not the end of the world.  We need to remember that the question is not whether or not you’ll make mistakes.  Rather, are you ready to work through them when they happen?  If you negatively affect other people by your mistakes, you can offer an apology and learn from it.  Learn to accept your shortcomings and failures and turn them into growing seasons.

#5.  Celebrate Your Accomplishments

This is something I do on a regular basis.  When I got my first opt-in, I was hooting and hollering throughout the house and my family started to celebrate with me.  When I made my first dollar online, I rewarded myself with a special treat.

Constantly remind yourself of where you were and how far you’ve come already!  Make sure you don’t take for granted the skills, knowledge and experiences you’ve acquired since the beginning.  Acknowledge your growth and celebrate your small successes and accomplishments.

Hope to help.

Take Care,
Carol

Carol, I want to say Thank you very much for those five tips, It was just what I need to hear, because in the last few days I have really been taking in to much information to fast, and I was really starting to feel overwhelm, I really enjoy tips 1and 3 but to be honest all five of them is great, and it was just what I needed to make me continue believing that I can do this, I am still reading Anthony book profit from home, which i just receive in the mail a couple of day ago, I am kind of a slow reader, but the book is so great. I do have so doubt about if I can do this but I just have to go with faith that it will happen if I truly put in the work. Anthony is a wonderful man and human being. I still will have to wait until I get more funds so I can let one of his team member help me set up my website. Did you have to have someone help you set up your website? Anyway I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate that e-mail it made my day. Thank Again!!!!!!

Hi Ms. Carol. Nice meeting you by email. I appreciate your generosity of explaining in detail the process of making money online or creating a business online. I enjoyed the webinar video: “Golden Nuggets for Newbies” and also the tips you provided in this other email; and frankly I must say I’m indeed a “newbie” on this field. When I got to the
part in which you suggested that we think of something we enjoy and are knowledgeable
about I must admit that I enjoy many things but don’t think I’m too knowledgeable to start
speaking about it fluently and with ease. I would rather say that I’m interested first in starting as an affiliate (promoting other people’s products) till I get more experience and training. Also, I have to put some things in order and organize my schedule while I read through the material you are providing. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to invest time and effort on your part to help others (you seem truthful and genuinely christian, thank God I found you someone so trustworthy, but bear with me while I get ready to start and lastly put me in your prayers for I’m going through some tough time). This is my second languate, but I love to be able to practice it. Thank you for everything.

      Hi Jo Ann,

Information overload is pretty normal for starting out. I suffered with it and still can if I’m not careful. You actually have to have a balance of learning and taking action, intake and output……a balance. Because if you just learn and learn and learn……you go nuts, but if you take action on what you learn….it all starts to make sense with regards to that part, then you learn something else and take action…. etc..

    Carol,
I’m having to start over again. Had extensive neck surgery on July 7th, 2011. When I was ready to go back to work I had no job. I’m a Registered Nurse working for a Home Health Company for over 10 years. With no funds coming in I had to drop my sites, autoresponder (Aweber), and hosting. I’m very interedted in writing about Rheumatoid Arthritis since I have a very severe case. My problem is finding a niche name. I was thinking about “Chronicity of Illnesses.” What do you think. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Reply

    • Carol Amato Says:

      Hi Clara,

I’m sorry for your physical challenges!
Regarding choosing a name, first of all you need to think about keywords and how much they are searched. Second of all, is that word “chronicity” common enough for normal folks to know it if they aren’t an RN? Don’t think so… Also, it sounds very negative, although I realize the topic is a serious one. You want the title to give hope!!

Check out Google’s Keyword Tool to see how many searches globally are listed for the different keywords you’re interested in using in your title.

Make sure there is a market FIRST……then proceed…

      Hope to help.

      Hi John,

I can definitely relate to what you’re saying about information overload – as I experienced that in the beginning part of my business. At times, I still have to keep myself in check regarding allowing too much information to come my way.

The first step is to decide what your market will be… What are you interested in? What are you passionate about? What do you have a lot of knowledge in? THAT should be the place to start to determine what market/niche you get started in.

Then, you would register a domain name based upon the market you chose. John, my entire business is based upon list building, and I have interwoven affiliate marketing throughout the entire process.

If you haven’t watched my Golden Nuggets video training yet, I highly recommend it as this will give you the core components of how I make money online and what tools are necessary to do so.

I hope to help a little bit. Have a great day :-)

You can always get a paid theme later if you don’t have a budget for it now.

My site didn’t always look like this, it has evolved over time as I have tweaked it along the way. It takes a lot of work and there is a learning curve, but I enjoyed every bit of it. :-)

Tip #2 and #3 are especially important–and sometimes hard to remember. Information overload can keep you from doing anything productive, but the temptation is to try to read everything that comes across your desk or email for fear that you might be missing that one best tip or idea. And remembering that each little step moves you forward is very important. If you try to accelerate from 0 to 100 mph you just end up squashed against the back window!

      Hi Christina!

I think each of us struggles more with different ones….in the beginning, it was information overload, but now, I pace myself, focus on what I have for my tasks for that day, so it’s not an issue much any more.

I agree! Thanks for the “word picture” about going too fast! lol
Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. :)
