People usually don’t have a lot of money to spend on marketing when they first create a website. Fortunately, there are some techniques you can use to get free traffic for your site.
I’m going to go over some of these techniques so you can start using them today.
Use Keywords In Your Website
Keywords are one of the best ways to get free traffic for your site. That’s because search engines analyze keywords when they rank sites. Then, when someone types a key phrase into a search engine, the search engine returns results based on those rankings, along with other factors, such as inbound links.
Thus, conduct keyword research and make sure include the top keywords in your website. Additionally, don’t just use the keywords once or twice. Make sure you have a keyword density of at least 3% so you can rank for that keyword.

Use Social Networks
Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are all great ways to get free traffic. Simply set up an account with these different networks, post updates, and start driving traffic to your website.
When you use this method, you have to give people a reason to leave the social network to visit your site. You can do this by creating posts that include links to special offers, products and blog posts. If people are interested in the posts, they’ll click on the link and visit your site.
Use Yahoo! Answers
Yahoo! Answers is a place where people can ask questions and other people can answer those questions. You can get free traffic by answering questions, since you can provide a link to your site in the answer, as long as it is a resource.
For example, let’s say you run a blog on Internet marketing. You create a post titled “3 Ways to Set Up Facebook Landing Pages.” Then, you visit Yahoo! Answers and see a question that asks, “How Do I Set Up a Facebook Landing Page for My Business?”
You can answer the question by providing a link to your blog post. You’ll get some traffic, and it won’t cost a thing.
You can use forums in the same way you use Yahoo! Answers. First, find forums that are in your niche.
Then, go through the posts and find questions you can answer. First, answer the questions without providing links to your site. This will help you build up trust with other users.
Then, after you have built trust, start providing links with your answers. Just make sure people can get useful and relevant information when they follow the links.
This is one of the most exciting ways to get free traffic. You can create a YouTube video to:
- Make an announcement
- Demonstrate a product
- Explain a technique
You can include a URL to your site inside of the video. You can also include site information on your YouTube channel. Then, people can visit your site after watching your video or visiting your YouTube channel.
Use Your AdWords Credits!
As you know, AdWords isn’t a free program. You set up ads, and actually have to pay each time your ad is clicked or viewed. While this does cost money, there is a way to use it for free. Simply sign up for a hosting plan with HostGator and you’ll receive a $100 AdWords credit. You can use this credit to drive pay-per-click and pay-per-view traffic to your site. Then, once the $100 credit is used up, you can suspend your ads.
